FROM THE DESK OF KAMAL

Greetings, and welcome to Issue #5 of Your Bridge to Canada.
Canada’s doors remain open for those who prepare honestly — and this week brings important news for Express Entry candidates, students and entrepreneurs alike.
A historic shift: preparation meets opportunity
Today, Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab announced the most significant Express Entry changes in years. Effective November 3, 2026, skilled professionals in 186 high-wage occupations can earn up to 100 additional CRS points — and the LMIA requirement is gone for qualifying job offers.
What does this mean for you? If you work in engineering, IT, healthcare, skilled trades, or other high-wage occupations, your CRS score could jump significantly. Every point matters in the Express Entry pool, and this change could be the difference between waiting and receiving an invitation.
Why act before November 3? Existing pool profiles will be auto-recalculated, but candidates wanting job-offer points must update their profiles before the deadline. Do not wait — let this historic announcement be your reason to move with purpose.
Your next step: Get your profile assessed by a licensed professional before the changes take effect. This is general information only; each profile must be assessed on its own facts.
General information only — not immigration advice. Individual circumstances require a professional assessment.

Ontario opens a new regional PR pathway — Sudbury, Thunder Bay and 4 more: Ontario’s new REDI round reserves nomination spaces for skilled workers in six Northern and Eastern Ontario communities through the end of 2027 — if you have a job offer outside the GTA, this could be a less-crowded route to permanent residence. No separate application is needed; you qualify through regular OINP streams. Source →
The official 186-occupation high-wage list is out — find your NOC now: IRCC has published the full list of 186 NOC codes — from surgeons and software engineers to registered nurses and industrial electricians — whose holders can earn up to 150 extra CRS points from November 3. Check whether your occupation made the list and update your profile before the deadline. Source →
Draws pause up to 2 weeks from November 3 — update your profile now: To roll out the new CRS scoring, IRCC will temporarily pause Express Entry draws from November 3 while every profile is auto-recalculated — make sure your job-offer and work-experience details are in your profile before the deadline so your score reflects your full value. Source →
Express Entry shake-up — up to 150 extra CRS points: Starting November 3, your Canadian work experience or a qualifying high-wage job offer (e.g. engineers, electricians) can add up to 150 points to your score — and no LMIA is needed anymore. Scores are auto-recalculated, but you MUST add your job-offer details to your profile before November 3. Source →

Ottawa caps 2026 student arrivals at 155,000 — apply early: Canada’s revised plan sets 155,000 new international-student arrivals for 2026 (dropping to 150,000 in 2027–28), while fast-tracking PR for up to 33,000 temporary workers already here — if studying in Canada is your plan, getting your application in early matters more than ever.
